walkin the talk

SO.... If you read my blog, you will know that at camp I made the decision to give up all aspects of my life to God and let His will be done in it. Well that decision really got tested this week! I tried out for the tennis team and on tuesday night and wednesday, I was praying that I would make it, then I realized that God might not want me on the team. So my prayers changed. It was really hard to tell God that I would be happy no matter what the outcome was going to be. I didn't make the team and I was pretty bummed when I left the locker room. Deep down I was really disappointed and mad and all that stuff, but as I drove home, I realized that there is probably a/some very good reason/s that God didn't want me on the team. I am gonna be so busy with El Salvador meetings and AP Gov homework/all my other homework, that I really did not need to have 2 more hours of my day taken away. The other thing that tennis would have done, was stop me from going to youth group and kids club. That was something that was gonna be hard. Those are the things that I look forward to in the week and to have that gone would suck. I really wanted to make the tennis team, I reached the point where I really found, playing tennis, relaxing! It would have been amazing! But I did give it up to God and he showed me very clearly what he wanted done. God gives and He takes away but His will is ALWAYS best. It was really encouraging to go through with my "commitment" and see, so clearly, what God's will for that situation was.

hello.

Well, my last post was on monday and a lot has happened since then!

On tuesday, my mom and I hung out in Salem, looked at quilt stores and stuff like that. Then on wednesday, we went back to Corban for the morning. We talked to a financial aid guy and got some info about scholarships etc. Then we went and found our professor friends! We talked to them for a while. Then one of them was going to take us to see another guy who we met a while ago. On our way there (well, about 5 feet into our "journey"), we were introduced to another prof. who was hilarious! He said that that his wife went to Whittier in high school and so he was going to tell her that he met a Valley kid. He was fuuuuny! So then we continued on our journey. We really were on a journey! We had no path to follow so we were going/sliding down hills, walking through the presidents backyard etc. It was fun! Eventually we got to our destination and the person we went to see wasn't there. So we talked to other people. And I got a bunch of free stuff, stuffed into my pockets. Haha. We did meet up with the person we wanted to, later. But before that, we went back to the main part of the campus and did a bit of shopping. I really love Corban! I wasn't too sure about it the first day but the second day was a lot of fun and I love the school! Oh, and people up there are so nice! Walking around campus, literally every person we passed stopped and had a convo with us!!!!!! l0l. It was fun. Then we flew home wednesday night after spending some time in Portland.

On thursday we did a lot of errands and stuff. Went to school for my physical. I got my hair cut and I got a new straightener! =D yay!

On thursday afternoon, we drove to San Diego for the graduation! Then we found our hotel and slept! On friday morning, we got up and drove to the Marine base. We found where we were supposed to be and then found my friends parents and brother. So we sat... and sat.... and sat.... and talked a lot and then finally the graduation started! It was so hot there! It was insane! So then we watched the graduation. Then the marines got dismissed and we actually got to talk to them! I was so happy to see my friend! He looked so different though! He lost 30 pounds over the past 13 weeks but seriously.... he eats, in one meal, more than I eat in one day! It was crazy! It was cool to hear all his stories! So then we went and ate lunch at a restaurant on the base. It was yum! And we were there for probably 2-3 hours. We were the last ones there. Haha. Then my mom and I along with my youth pastor and his wife went to Sea World to see the nighttime Shamu show! It was cool but I like the daytime one better. Then this morning we went back to Sea World, did rides, got wet etc. Then Ben and his family arrived so we talked to them for a while and then we ate and they went into the park to do stuff. It was so great to talk to/see Ben and his family! Then we drove home.

So yah.... thats my week! I will post pics of Corban later but i'll put the graduation pics up now. =D

Oregon (and last week)

Okay so last week was very busy! We did a sports camp from 9am-12pm. Then a VBS from 6pm-8pm. We did not have a lot of time to do much. A nap took up the majority of the in between time. So yah...it was a hard week but i guess it was kinda fun.

So....this morning at 6:45.... my mom and I boarded a plane that took us to Seattle and then another that took us to Portland. From there we got a car and drove to Salem. We arrived at Corban College and the guy who we were meeting with was in a meeting so we wandered around. Then he came out of the meeting and gave us a tour of the college! It is amazingly pretty! It is up on a hill..... there is a lot of up hill walking! We got to see some professors who we met last year. We met the president of the college and also talked to a number of other people about majors and stuff. The dorms are really cool! As of right now.... I am not too sure how I feel about it, but it is definitely an option for college!

We are staying in Salem, probably going to Portland tomorrow to look around. And then hopefully going back to Corban on wednesday! =]

I am super tired so im gonna go to sleep soon!

Later!

be transformed

Romans 12:2. "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God- this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is- his good, pleasing, and perfect will."

This was the theme verse for camp this week. God really spoke to me this week and convicted me of things in my life that need to change. On thursday night, I decided to give up all aspects to God and let him take FULL control, I rededicated my life to him. Like any Christian should, I have always wanted God's will for my life, but this week it became extremely clear that if I won't let him take control of all my life, that is not going to happen. We focused this week on 5 different areas of our lives that we needed to transform. Worship, discipleship, fellowship, ministry, and evangelism. The area that I was most convicted in was definitely evangelism. While the speaker was talking, I made a list of all the people I know who have not accepted the gift of salvation. My list was so much longer than I ever imagined. I realized that I may be the only person on their lives that have the opportunity to bring them to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. This week was extremely emotional and I really felt God helping me realize these things. It was so amazing. Like the speaker said, the transformation in my life has now begun!

Okay, so the week was not only spiritually amazing but also very fun! I was in a cabin with 9 other girls. We got really close! Our counselor was amazing! She was such a good influence and role model for us! These girls really helped me forget what other people think about me. They are amazing and I love them to death! I got a Filipino name! Its Tangkad, which means tall!

All of the counselors were absolutely amazing! I gad the opportunity to talk to one of them for about 2 hours on thursday. He helped me realize that I needed to work on some of my relationships with others. I was able to tell him anything and everything and I knew that he wasn't going to judge me. It was awesome!

I was on the green team..... Ratchet!! Woop woop! And in cabon 4.... INDIGO! =D

We had a pretty intense schedule to go by for the week! It included 3 meals, 3 games, 2 chapels, 3 hours of free time, rest time, cabin clean up, and discovery time (1 hr). It was a busy week! The food was amazing! =D The free time was a great time to relax. We swam one of the days. The games.... lets just say they were awesome! We played human tidily-winks, octoball, scalps (ouch!), sock-em-boppers, capture the flag, clue (over the whole camp), a golf ball game, battle for the all-spark (aka Mafia), chaos, mud tug-of-war, amazing race, and the most meaningful game ever... but im not sure what its called, ill explain it. We didn't know in advance what the game was. All of a sudden, a cop walked into chapel and told us that a law had been passed saying that any people preaching Christianity would be put in prison. We freaked out until we realized it was the game. So we wandered around in the dark and tried to avoid getting our lives taken away. It was really scary to think that people live like that everyday. My friends and I got stopped by a "cop" and asked is we were Christians, we said yes, and our lives got taken away. The aim of the game was to get to the safe-house. We did not want to continue so we sat down and chilled. It was a very intense game!

So yah. Camp was absolutely amazing! I loved every second of it! =D Here are some pics:
