life lately

saying that my life is a roller coaster would be an understatement.

i am having some serious issues with my roommate right now. it sucks. seriously. hopefully things will work out but in the meantime it is so hard to be happy. this is the first "drama" that i have ever had to deal with so it is hard. i really miss being in a group that doesnt have drama.... ever! like you hippos :) i would absolutely love to bypass the next 2 weeks but that is not going to happen.

on a more positive note... much more positive... i played capture the flag last night! a group of about 20 of us met in one of the dorm lobbies and we piled into cars and drove to a park. this is the normal location for the game. it was SUPER sketch. we broke up into 2 teams and then headed to our sides to hide our flags. well.... as we are walking through the forest (yes it was a real forest), we came across a guy lying on the ground. as soon as he saw us he jumped up. we told him that we were playing a game. he was like "oh im just looking for my girlfriend". uummmm yah ok. haha so we called the other team and they said that they had also come across a few pot-smoking teenagers and we decided that it would be best to relocate. as we are gathering at our cars.... a guy and girl walk to a car that had been there since before we got there. they start yelling someones name and then the other guy that we came across before walks out of the forest. they jumped in the car and drove away. they reeked of weed! i have never smelled anything that strong in my life! it was crazy!
well we went to a different park that was much better! haha. we played two games... my team lost both :( haha. buuuuuut.... i was on the same team as Ralph Waldo Emerson the third! he is legitimate too. he is so funny! and his twin brother was on the opposite team and he was also pretty awesome!
so that was my amazing experience playing capture the flag! :)

religion

I am currently taking a class called "Religious Movements". This class consists of the study of religions in the world (crazy right!). Well anyway, we have covered Buddhism, Islam, and Hinduism. I have learned a lot of facts and information about all of these different religions, but the one thing that sticks out to me is that they have all found a God. Yes, some of these worship multiple gods, but they all seem to worship some form of maker or creator. I am still processing about this, but it proves to me that there really is something inside everyone that knows we were made by a force greater than ourselves. The way in which this manifests itself varies from continent to continent, but the underlying concept is there. Everyone knows that something made us. Everyone knows that we did not just happen to exist. Some people deny this, but if they search deep inside themselves, its there. I just think that it is interesting how there seems to be a strand of truth running through all these religions, but they are so warped that they are almost indistinguishable from complete lies.

lots of time to think....

Today, I drove one of my hallmates to the Portland Airport. The last time I drove to the airport was when my mom left a few weeks ago. I love the drive back! I get to sing at the top of my lungs, think, and just be alone for an hour. I am someone who has always liked spending time with myself and just thinking. I have to admit, it was pretty hard to stay awake today.... but I made it! :)

Anyway, that was rather irrelevant but I thought I would express my enjoyment of driving from Portlan to Salem.

Yesterday, Thursday, was a surprisingly good day. I say surprisingly because Thursdays are not my good days. I have a 9:00 and 10:30 class, which gets out at 11:20. I have a physical science lab from 12-2:50. And I have a night class from 6-7:30. Not fun. BUT, yeterday was rather good. My lab was hard and annoying, but it felt so good to get it done. After dinner, I was able to see my Australian friend who was staying here last week. She just makes me laugh! My roommate and a friend perfromed at open mic night which was so good! :) Other little things happened too that just added to the positiveness of the day.

Let me just say, I am SO glad that I am only one class away from the weekend! I cannot wait to sleep and relax. Although, I do have a considerable amount of homework to do. But I will ignore that right now :)

One other thing that have come to realize is that I am much better at expressing my feelings through writing than I am through speaking. I guess I have always known that, but I have been noticing it more recently. I have a problem expressing through my words. I don't like that, but I am glad that I can at least write out my feelings/thoughts :)

Have a wonderful weekend!

finally!!!

so finally something exciting has happened here! :)
but first... let me tell you that the beginning of this week was the crappiest few days ever. i got a cold, drama arose, i was homesick. life sucked. BUUUUT things got better yesterday :)

last night was our first night of hall Bible study. we are doing testimonies this semester so last night it was my room's turn. my RA gave her testimony, my roommate gave hers, then i gave mine. i totally expected to talk for like 5 minutes. nope... i talked for 20 minutes. not expected at all! but it was really good! after Bible study, i met a girl who is staying with one of my hallmates. her name is annie and she is from australia! talking to her was so good! i felt so comfortable with her around. it was fun talking about stuff that no one else had knowledge of. like food and words and stuff. so after that, six of us jumped in a car and went to mcdonalds. it was like 10:45 when we left. we got to mcdonalds, went inside, and saw that they have a deal going.... 50 chicken nuggets for $10. so cheap! well two of the girls decided to get it. WOAH! 50 chicken nuggets is a LOT! so we came back to the dorm, plopped down in our hall, and pigged out on chicken nuggets :) we sat there until 12:30 eating, talking about camp, talking about boys, talking about a lot of stuff. it was such great hall bonding! i loved it! :)

life is improving :)

sophomore year!

okay well let me start by saying that i am blogging because facebook is being retarded and not letting me get on. annnnd i have no one to hang out with. so i guess you could say that im lonely. but im not lonely in a bad way.... just lonely. anyyyway.
my mommy left today. it was sad. but its okay.
right now.... i dont really wanna be here. i mean i love it and all... but i am kinda thinking about my friendships and stuff... and i just dont feel content. its hard to say that, because i know im "stuck" here. and i also know that God wants me here... well thats what i think He wants. i guess i just feel like the friendships that i have in california are more important and more meaningful to me. i guess i will get over this! im probably just homesick. i know ill be fine, im a big girl! haha

on a much happier note... on the way to the airport today, my mom and i stopped to see some family. im so glad we did! i have met these people before, but i didnt feel comfortable going there by myself. but now i am okay with it! i think i might go babysit one weekend for them which i think would be so much fun! the kids are great! the oldest is a girl who is 15, then there are 2 boys aged 13 and 10 i think. they are so great! :) it made my day seeing them!

thats all for now.... ill post when something significant happens. haha :)

just a thought

i dont know if im the only one that experiences this or not. but i am assuming im not alone.
i have met a few people in my life who remind me of someone else. and its almost like i have an instant connection with them. its weird. for example, my uncle in austria reminded me A LOT of my aunt who i am ridiculously close to. so even though i had just met him, i felt like we were super close. yah thats a still in my family, but its happened with people who i am not related to as well. and thinking about it, if i feel the connection because the person reminds me of someone else i know, then they probably dont feel the same connection unless i remind them of someone they know. which is unlikely but possible.

i dont know.
ive just been thinking about that.
weird.
